His extraordinary artistic career has continued uninterruptedly for more than half a century and for this incredible milestone he has been celebrated at the Metropolitan Opera, Wiener Staatsoper, Arena di Verona, Teatro alla Scala, Teatro Colon and NHK Hall Tokyo.
