Born in Budapest in 1960, Edit Zeke spent four semesters in 1979-1981 in Moscow studying at the Surikov Academy of Fine Arts. She then went on to earn her degree at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts in 1984. From that same year until 1989 she was a permanent designer at the Katona József Theatre in Kecskemét. She was a member of the National Theatre of Miskolc between 1992 and 2005, and of the Hungarian State Opera between 2005 and 2009. Her awards include the City of Miskolc's Award of Excellence (1996), the National Theatre Festival's award for best costume designs (1997), the Mari Jászai Award (1998), the Theatre Critics' Award (1998) and the award for best costume designs from the Festival of Hungarian-Language Theatres Abroad (2003).
