From a child soloist at the Sistine Chapel with the Schola Puerorum Cantorum to the most prestigious opera theaters in the world. Born in Arezzo and raised in Rome, Vittorio Grigolo is one of the most important tenors in the opera scene, with a career marked by unforgettable artistic encounters: age 13, he performed as the shepherd boy in Tosca at the Rome Opera House alongside Pavarotti under the direction of Maestro Oren. At 23, he became the youngest tenor to inaugurate La Scala under the direction of Maestro Muti. In 2010, he makes his oversea debut as Rodolfo in La bohème, becoming a new star of the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
His voice is described as “an attractive, ardent and supple instrument, that he wields to passionate effect” by The New York Times. His career is continuously rising on the most prestigious stages. He has given numerous recitals and concerts, including the Concert de Paris under the Eiffel Tower for 800,000 people. He performs under the direction of the greatest conductors and directors, including Zeffirelli, who wanted him as Rodolfo in the live broadcast of La bohème from the Met Opera. He performs as Alfredo Germont (La traviata) at Zurich's central station and Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore) at Malpensa airport. Big screen appearances include the Rai live broadcast, as the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto, produced by Andermann and directed by Bellocchio, alongside Domingo and Raimondi.
His connections with pop and its great artists like Brian May, Sting, and Lucio Dalla, are countless. In 2023, he performed at the Italian Senate of the Republic in presence of the Head of State. He amazes in his performances in the new format Homage to Sinatra. Among the awards he received are the European Border Breakers for his first solo album, Best Tenor 2011, ECHO Klassik 2011, and Opera News 2018. He has won the Caruso Prize, the Puccini Prize, the Tiberini d'Oro, and the Special Achievement Award from the National Italian American Foundation. He received the Distinguished Artistic Leadership Award from the Atlantic Council for his contribution towards strengthening the transatlantic relationship.
