The Hungarian State Opera announces a change in the programme advertised for 4 and 8 December 2023. Instead of the concert version of Nabucco with Plácido Domingo in the title role, the international guest star will appear in a more versatile and richer programme, in agreement with the OPERA. The programme on the two dates includes highlights from Nabucco as well as a Verdi opera gala with the participation of Domingo and the previously announced Hungarian soloists.
The first part of the performance features highlights from Nabucco sung by Plácido Domingo (Nabucco), Boldizsár László (Ismaele), Eszter Sümegi (Abigaille), Erika Gál (Fenena), and András Palerdi (Zaccaria). The second part includes excerpts from La forza del destino, Don Carlo, Macbeth, La traviata, Aida, and Il trovatore, performed by Plácido Domingo, Eszter Sümegi, Erika Gál, Orsolya Sáfár, Boldizsár László, and András Palerdi. The Hungarian State Opera Orchestra and Chorus (chorus director: Gábor Csiki) are conducted by Balázs Kocsár.
The gala directed by Judit Niklai is hosted by Melitta Gyüdi on 4 December and Anna Daniela Bátor on 8 December, with video installations by Zsombor Czeglédi.
Tickets are valid for the gala concert. The OPERA hopes that the extended programme will be to the satisfaction of its esteemed audience and apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the change of programme.
