The triple bill entitled Bartók DanceTriptych that premiered last year at the Opera is to be presented at the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava on 7 June, 2018. Ballet director Tamás Solymosi introduced the piece to the representatives of the media at a press conference in Bratislava on 9 May. In his speech he emphasized the results of the cooperation between the two companies as well as explained the special features of each piece.
Between 4 and 10 June, 2018 it is the fifth time the Embassy of Hungary in Bratislava and the Hungarian Institute will have organised the festival “More Than Neighbours – Hungarian Cultural Week in Bratislava”. The programme series offers classical and pop concerts, exhibitions and open-air events. Ambassador Tibor Pető stated that this festival is the most important cultural appearance in Bratislava. “This year we focus on the Hungarian presidency of the V4. We would also like to demonstrate that these countries are not merely connected by politics but socially and culturally as well.”
A highlight of the festival is the performance by the Hungarian National Ballet in the new building of the Slovak National Theatre on 7 June. Bartók’s DanceTriptych comprises of three works: Pál Frenák’s The Wooden Prince was choreographed for its 100th anniversary last year, László Seregi’s classic The Miraculous Mandarin, and Dance Suite by Zsolt Juhász. “It is to our great pride that our company can return to Bratislava after the huge success of The Merry Widow earlier this year,” said Tamás Solymosi. “We hope that this festival is the beginning of a long-term cooperation. We also await the company of the Slovak National Theatre at our programmes in Budapest”
