Zhaochi Xu is a bass-baritone. He began his opera vocal training with Professor Fu Haijing at Jilin Normal University, where he won second prize in the Jilin Provincial Vocal Competition during his bachelor's studies.
In 2022, he was admitted to the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Music in Milan with the first place, studying under Vita Alba Giuseppina Mosca and Umberto Finazzi, while attending masterclasses with Ildebrando D'Arcangelo. He graduated with full marks in 2024 and reached finals in several competitions: Verdi Conservatory Scholarship Competition, Koligi Vocal Competition, and Rassegna Internazionale di Giovani Voci Liriche.
Xu's performance career began with 2022 concerts at Pagano Opera House and in Southern Italy. His opera debut came in 2023 as Basilio in The Barber of Seville at Milan's Carcano Theatre, followed by a concert in Bussero. In 2024, he performed concerts in Wrocław, reprised Basilio with Milan Conservatory, appeared at Cagnoni Opera House's Witches Festival, and played Timur in Turandot at PIME Opera House. His most recent performance was at Milan's Casa Verdi in 2025.
