Jonathan Papp studied at the Royal Academy of Music, with Geoffrey Parsons, and with Bruno Canino in Milan.
He is greatly in demand as a coach and accompanist around the world, having shared recitals with Sir Thomas Allen, Cheryl Barker, Ian Bostridge, Sophie Daneman, Carolyn Sampson, Susan Gritton, Katarina Karneus, Christopher Maltman, Amanda Roocroft, Freddie De Tommaso, Sergei Leiferkus, Marina Poplavskya, Carmen Giannattasio, Aigul Akhmetshina,and Catherine Wyn-Rogers, amongst others. Venues have ranged from London’s Wigmore Hall to the Sydney Opera House and the Colòn in Buenos Aires. More exotic venues have seen Papp playing in the Great Amphitheatre at Ephesus, as well as playing a New Year’s Eve recital in Ramases III’s temple in the Valley of the Kings, Egypt. He has made radio and television broadcasts with such artists as Dame Kiri and Dmitri Hvorostovsky, and worked as both coach and recital partner with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa for over seventeen years.
Jonathan Papp is Artistic Director and Founder of the Georg Solti Accademia in Italy, and he is Head of Music for the Mascarade Opera Studio in Florence. He has also worked for the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme, the Royal Opera House, the Walton Foundation in Ischia, and for the Tosti Institute in Ortona. Papp has given Masterclasses at the Royal Opera House and abroad, including Japan, Korea, China, the USA and New Zealand. Future recitals include concerts with Aigul Akhmetshina, and Freddie De Tommaso.
He is Senior Principal Operatic and Vocal Repertoire Coach at the Royal Academy of Music, London, and a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music.
