Dora Jana Klarić is a young mezzosoprano from Croatia. Her latest engagements include being a part of the Young Singers Project at Salzburg Festival in summer 2025. At Salzburg Festival, she sang the role of Contessa di Coigny in Andrea Chénier by Umberto Giordano conducted by Marco Armiliato. She was also a soloist at the Herbert von Karajan Young Conductors Award concert and many other masterclasses and concerts in the programme. She is debuting as “The Nurse“ in the season opener “Boris Godunov” in Opera National de Lyon in October 2025.

She was a guest soloist at Deutsche Oper Berlin in two productions in the season 2024/2025. She sang the role of Frau Steinbock in the World premiere of G. Kampe's opera Immermehr and Die Lehrbube in Meistersinger von Nürnberg from R. Wagner.

She finished her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the Arts Academy in Split in the class of prof. Terezija Kusanović and she was an Erasmus+ student at UdK Berlin in the class of prof. Albert Pesendorfer.

She also works with her vocal coach Snežana Nena Brzaković.

Her earlier engagements were at the Croatian National Theatre in Split, in Varaždin and at the Zagreb Opera Festival. Some other roles that she sang on stage include Zita (Gianni Schicchi) and Suora Zelatrice (Suor Angelica) in Puccini’s Il trittico, Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Third Lady (Die Zauberflöte) and Flora (La traviata). She won the first prize at the Daleki Akordi (Distant Chords) Competition in Split and the Grand Prix and the Audience Prize at the international opera masterclass ‘Oper Oder Spree’ in Beeskow. She has also won awards at the ‘Stojan Stojanov Gančev’ and ‘Lav Mirski’ international competitions in Zagreb. 

Besides opera, she is a concert and oratorio singer. Some oratorios that she has in her repertoire include W.A.Mozart - Requiem, J.S. Bach - Magnificat, A. Vivaldi - Gloria, Pergolesi - Stabat Mater and more.

She is joining the Éva Marton International Opera Studio in 2025/2026 season.
